01 Who we are

APP & SØNN AS (“we”, “us”) makes Nation’s Dumbest, a trivia game played solo or with others across modes like quiz, memory, intuition and logical challenges. This policy explains what we collect when you play, why, and what choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us — see Contact us.

02 Data we collect

We try to collect as little as we can get away with. Here’s everything:

Account & sign-in
The first time you open the app we create an anonymous guest account so your progress is saved even before you sign in. If you choose Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and a unique account ID (and email, if the provider shares one) and link it to that same guest account so your history carries over. We never see your Google or Apple password.
Nickname
The display name you pick, or the one pre-filled from your Google/Apple account. Shown to other players in multiplayer games and on leaderboards.
Gameplay & progress
Scores, completed rounds, daily streaks, and your ladder level (e.g. "Geni", "Mesterhjerne"), so we can show your history, personal bests and ranking against other players.
Multiplayer sessions
When you create or join a game — including via an invite link — we store which session you’re in so the right players get matched together.
Usage & diagnostics
Events like sign-ins, games created or joined, and games completed (score and mode), plus basic device info (model, OS version, app version), collected through Google Firebase Analytics to understand usage and squash bugs.
Notification token
If you allow notifications, a device token used to send you things like streak reminders. No token, no notifications.
Advertising identifiers
We show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device’s advertising ID (IDFA on iOS — only after you respond to Apple’s tracking prompt — or GAID on Android) and ad-interaction data to select and measure ads. See Advertising & tracking.
On-device only
Some things — your language choice, cached daily-streak state, last-played date — live only in local storage on your device and are never sent to us.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input, health data, or payment details.

03 Why we use it

  • Run the game, save your progress, and keep it available across your devices once you sign in.
  • Match you with other players in multiplayer games and via invite links.
  • Show leaderboards, personal bests, and daily-streak progress.
  • Understand which parts of the game are used and fix what’s broken.
  • Send notifications you’ve opted into.
  • Show ads that keep the app free, and — where you’ve allowed tracking — make those ads more relevant.

For players in Norway, Sweden and France, our legal bases under GDPR are: performing our contract with you (running the game and your account), our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it, and your consent for notifications and ad tracking specifically.

04 Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal data. We use a small number of service providers to run the app, each acting under their own privacy terms:

  • Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider; stores your account, nickname, scores and game history.
  • Google Firebase — Analytics (usage events) and Cloud Messaging (push notifications).
  • Google AdMob — serves and measures in-app ads.
  • Google / Apple Sign-In — only if you choose to sign in that way.
  • Vercel — hosts our API and this website.

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or security of APP & SØNN AS, our players, or the public.

05 Advertising & tracking

The app is free to play and partly funded by ads served through Google AdMob. On iOS, the first time an ad-related tracking request is made, you’ll see Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether the app can track you across apps. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, you’ll still see ads — they just won’t be personalized using your advertising ID.

You can change this later at any time:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization, or reset your advertising ID

06 International transfers

Our service providers — Supabase, Google and Vercel — may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where that involves transferring data out of the EEA, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

07 How long we keep it

We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we’re required to keep it longer for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons. Diagnostic and usage data collected through Firebase Analytics follows Google’s standard retention windows.

08 Your rights & choices

  • Access, correct or delete your data — email hello@appogsonn.com and we’ll action it or point you to where to do it in-app.
  • Delete your account — removes your nickname, saved history and ranking from our systems.
  • Notifications — turn these off any time in your device’s system settings.
  • Ad personalization — see Advertising & tracking above.

If you’re in the EEA, you also have the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — Datatilsynet (Norway), IMY (Sweden), or the CNIL (France).

09 Children

The app is a general-audience family game, not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children without a parent or guardian’s involvement. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us at hello@appogsonn.com and we’ll delete it.

10 Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encrypted connections and access-controlled infrastructure via Supabase — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

11 Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
